Nope nothing rare and NOT optional was on Ghia (Which is all the Saph is) and of course the 2000E and XR4x4, and as an option on GL IIRC, also was on other Fords of the era I.E Escort Ghia, XR3I, S2 RST and Fiesta RST. Plenty of equipment on these to put so called "Modern cars" to shame. Just a pity Ford did not renew the patent they had on the screen.

I'm glad that ford didn't renew the patent on the heated front screen, as it makes so many other cars safer by having them.
I've sat at the side of the road sometimes when there is a sudden downpour and the windows steam up, takes me about 10 mins each time to remember that I have a heated front screen!!

Coaches built in 1979 would likely be toughened glass and not laminated, ie single pane, so could well have had wires on it just like the rear screens.
The patent actually covered the placement of the wires on the compressed sheet between the two glass pieces that make up the laminated screen.
Most aircraft screens are not made from glass, it simply isn't strong enough, the same stuff is used as serious deep sea subs, and the record breaking visit to the bottom of the Marianas Trench, which exerted 1,100 atmospheres of pressure upon the material, or in real world terms 812 TONS per square inch, no that's not a misprint.
The material of choice is PMMA, or Poly(methyl methacrylate), in various thicknesses.
Another more common name is ACRYLIC, just a special version.
