My old tt t38 was awsome on my saff and to be honest the change up to the gt30 was not worth the money on my car. It does go better but not anywhere near what I was hoping for. The t38 sounded better too if your into that loud I suction noise and no dump valve too. It's now on my mates escos and running over 420 bhp on a totally STD small turbo engine.

Mine's so much louder after fitting my t38 too.

cheers danny
am i right in saying that with all gt series turbos

if they let go they are chuck away jobs
but
with the 'normal' type they are repairable

the tt t38 i put on the fez turbo is agressive but i know the full engine spec has a big part to play in that lol

Mine has mate but on my mates escos his is totally STD. Has been mapped at Reyland with the t38 and made over 420 . I had mine at all the different stages with t3 then t34.48 then .63 and the t38 was by far the best. I do like it with the gt turbo on now but like I said for the cost of all the stuff with it I was expecting too much I think.

gt30s also require the sandwich block thing in manifold and downpipe mods whereas t38s bolt straight on dont they not??

Yeh don't get me wrong it does go better but for the 2k it cost me to buy it all when I had the t38 already it didnt feel massively quicker. It's been mapped at Reyland has bd16/14 cams 7.2 comp. Maybe where it's so much smoother and feeling more modern is where I'm seeing it different as before the t38 all came i'n at once

I did have a STD exhaust cam but and 14 inlet but Martin put me a new inlet and put my 14 i'n the exhaust. I don't have a graph here think at home maybe I'll have a look. My gauge reads 2 bar not sure on a peak as don't really have chance to look long enough on the road. Maybe later i'n the year a better intercooler as it's a 50 mm one and different plenum and I'd have to get remapped anyway. To get maybe 30 hp extra though might not be worth it as it made 500 and it's only a road car so bit of a waste if I'm honest.

You'll read a million different views on the T38 variety personally due to experience i would go for a CR turbo version with a ported head and a decent inlet cam

Chris is spot on Damo, as i said before, my UT T38 wasn't the best on my old saff, BUT jim the previous owner didn't have the engine built for that turbo, he was originally going on a T4 but changed his mind and it never worked with the cam setup that was in there, made no torque, well 353ft/lb infact, a change of inlet cam would of made it better though i'm sure.

I'd have another T38 though don't get me wrong, i'd go for the TT one though this time with an Inlet cam and fit my 4x4 Inlet i have here and the rest just standard engine...
