the top left hand hole has no thread in it,do you think id have to tap it or do you think ill get away with the other bolts holding it in without leaking.
any idea what size tap to use?i think its suppose to be a m8 bolt that should have been in there,if i tap it with say a m9 bolt wont i have open up the hole in the water pump also.
As said defo needs tapping, you most likely will have to open the hole up a bit in the pump but lots of meat to do so, some one was seriously over tightening to strip a thread there!!

to be honest tabs the hole is smooth inside,my first thought was that maybe a dowel went in there, but i cant remember taken one out when i removed the pump.possibly someone in the past has had a go at drilling the threads out and not completed the job.
tabs what size tap would you use to re-thread the hole.
just to update, had another look at my water pump today as i was painting it,if you look at the picture you'll see that there is a hole in the block but no provision in the pump to put a bolt through, has anyone got there water pump off at the minute to have a check to see if this hole is supposed to be threaded or is there different pumps that actually use this hole.
