Personally these days if your on a budget i would go with a 2.0 zetec so uve already got 130bhp out the box then a throttle body set up should see you upto 155 with no other engine mods then build your engine from there with a pair of cams and headwork should see easily 180 bhp,

yeh on a bugget the 2.8s and 2.9s are no gd ya need to spend so much to even see the figure move, as kev said id go with zetec, cos ya can go crazy with those engines and there pretty much bulletbroof

Personally I'd go vauxhall let, but if wanting to stick to ford I'd start with ST170, get amazing economy as well as power with the VCT set up, though I'm old skool would love a 2 litre x flow, or just a 2.1 pinto makes a good budget engine.

Just bolt in a 24v Cossie BOA lump, air filter and exhaust you will have over 200bhp

You can buy a whole Granda cossie for less than Ł500

I'd go for a 2litre Duratec on cams and bodies.

go down the scrappy and get a black top from a mondeo
2.0 zetec
will rev hard all day long and wont give you any bother

if your on a budget then you dont want the repair bills when a shitty v6 goes wrong
