Default Alternator Drop Link

Does anyone have a pic of an Alternator Drop Bracket fitted to their Cosworth.

Been scratching my head trying to work out how it fits

Many thanks......

You have to cut off one of the locating bits, look on roosie's profile piccies as he has one of these.

Hi Tabetha,

I'm lead to believe that the Drop Bracket was a standard item on an RS500.

If I have an RS500 would I still need to cut a piece off ?

Also not 100% sure where I find peoples profiles......could you point me in the right direction ?

Many thansks again.

Many thanks.............

Now is it me or does the top threaded hole do absolutely nothing ????

And I'm stunned that the Alt Bracket now only uses three bolts.

If so it doesn't look like a great bit of engineering to me

Any thoughts ?

Correct mate - the top hole is sometimes used for securing the pipe to the heater matrix.

Does look poor doesn't it??

Hi Steve,

Not fitted it yet but have had a look at your instructions and they are as good as I could ask for...........so I thank you for that

I've an RS500 Block so just want to see if I have to cut a chuck off the bottom - fingers cross "I don,t".

Anyway, I'll give it a coat of looking at Monday..........and see if I bottle it.

Still stunned about only three bolt fixing on the bracket - not sure if I can get my head round that !!!!!

Cheers again to all.

No worries - the five hundy block doesn't need anything ground off You can just see the edge profile in this pic without a drop bracket

If you have a standard block from a 500 road car the lug will have already been removed.

If you have an unused replacement 500 block I have seen examples where the lug is still present and needs cutting off.

Gents,

Just a quick update............

No lug to chop off - all fitted this afternoon .

I went for the blue Drop Bracket and black billeted Alternator bracket, more luck than judgement, from Martin at Reylands.

Anyway the blue Drop Bracket blends quite nicely with the blue RS500 block, so it doesn't stand out - so all good.

Not going to be running any heating in the car so don't need to use the top holes on the bracket for the Matrix pipe etc.

So, a massive thanks for all the help and advise - would have never worked out that two of the bracket hole were redundant !!!!!!

Cheers, Hoogi

No heating ?, rather you than me, wait till you're old enough to have arthritis!!
Roosie and rob have no heaters in thier saxo track cars, I kept telling rob to keep the heater, a wet track day meant 2 laps back in all the time for screen clearing, heat would have kept it demisted!!

Tabetha,

Running heated Screens ......hope that'll do the trick.

Plus what a pain to run the pipes to the Matrix on a MKII Escort

Cheers again.
