OR - customise your existing heat shield

If it's a standard one, neatly cut out the section that clashes with the strut brace with a hacksaw. Then you can either leave it like this, put some edging on the edge of the cut out section, or buy some heatsheild material which is usually available in sheets and install a section of that in a shape that conforms to the strut brace, and then rivet it onto the original shield.

Or, even make a whole new shield out of the heat shield material, and use your original sheild as a template.

It'll be like Blue Peter ha ha

If you do go the heat wrap way, you'll need to wrap as much as you can.

The piece of the 2WD exhaust manifold that joins to the turbo will definately need wrapping as otherwise you start melting all your cables etc. and you would probably be well served to wrap as much of both parts as you can.

Or there's that ceramic coating...

The heat shield way is good. I have a combination of cut back standard shield and exhaust wrap. Probably still have more heatproofing to do as well.

I don't know how to put piccies up!!
All it is is literally I put the brace on resting on heat shield/the drivers side, but connected loosely on the nearside, then got a hacksaw and did the buisness, no good for bufty boys, I'm into function rather than looks, it looks butchered but it is!!

Look under insualtion/heatproofing in the yellowpages

Should be someone there that sells it - usually aluminium with ceramic coating

So easy to bend and fold to shape. Make a template out of cardboard and then fold it up.

I used nimbus material from nimbus motorsport, it's the lite version and is a must if you want to make a custom shield and cheap

On mine I drilled the bottom mount off and raised it a few inch which lowered the heatshield in the bay under the strut brace and made new bracket for the top. Was a bit closer to the turbo but worked fine

You could always but a turbo blanket to keep it nice and warm, will stop heat getting away, if used with wrap on downpipe.

Does ceramic coating make that much difference to the heat radiated from the manifold??

I was thinking of getting my manifold done to make it look a bit smarter more than anything (a bit bufty I know but I hate rusty looking manifolds!!) so if it keeps the underbonnet temps down, that's an added bonus!
