most people take the twincam out and put a pinto turbo, or a 24v in as its been done before and is alot cheaper. there arent many upgrades for the twin cam. u could try giving burton power a call. they wont be able to help much with the turbo charging but they will be able to tell u the pros an cons of the alternatives

Pop over to the Ford Sierra Owners Club forum and ask on there, plenty of twin cam knowledge there.
There's loads of options for the twinky, it's plenty tweakable, and doesn't necessarily have to cost the earth, especially with decent 2.0 Pintos getting harder to come by.
You can convert the 8v to 16v which will help, or fit the 2.3 bottom end from a Scorpio and run it in either 8v or 16v form, both can make good power without too much work.
Turbo Technics did a bolt on kit for the twin cam which jumped it up to about 160-170bhp, with potential for a shade over 200bhp on a healthy standard engine. Finding the bits is pretty hard work though.
It wouldn't be too hard to turbo the 8v or 16v lumps though, I believe the Nissan 200SX shares a pretty similar port spacing to the DOHC 16v, so there's definately potential there for some fun, as 200SX bits are pretty cheap.
I'd quite like to turbo one. Had one briefly, should have kept it!

ive got one in a mk1 escort , it came out of a rottten sierra, turbo technics built it , its not wired up yet , but the sierra it came out of made 189 brake with 240 lbs of torque , the loom looks like it has a piggy back ecu spliced in to it , will know more about wireing in the next month bud

ive sorted the wiring and stuff now.. its easy, and i did wire it correct, just had a faulty map sensor. I got the kit off ebay.. and even though the pinto is much more tuneable... The bolt on turbo kit, is soo easy to do... no faffing around. if i blow my dohc up.. ill probs buy another, as they are like £40 for a engine! .. I can do 3rd gear skids in my DOHC ... TBH, thats enough power for some streeto drifting

Not entirely sane
I see your kit is back on ebay again Jono. So is mine. I found the TT DCU is pretty good for running the 5th injector, it is adjustable for the boost point at which it starts to fire and also the injector duration. Biggest problem with these kits now is finding one which has got the frequency limiter which splices into the Ford MAP sensor. Without it, the ECU goes into LOS, fixing the timing and injector pulse, it runs really badly on boost with loads of det, it'll destroy the engine in no time. When I got my first DOHC turbo car, it didn't have the frequency limiter and it had blown the head gasket. I did masses of research before I found out that it needed the frequency limiter. I bought the last frequency limiter from TT for mine, they didn't have any but spoke to the guy who made them and he had one lying around. When people take the kit off a dead car, they don't notice the frequency limiter as it is not connected to any of the other TT bits so it gets left behind. Only reason I'm selling mine is beacause I changed my engine to a 2.9 twin turbo. It was a hoot to drive though, way better than a non turbo DOHC 4x4. Good luck with the sale by the way.
