Just to add i put these graphs up as they all make roughly the same power give or take, the torque figures vary alot though. I know each engine will be spec differently. There was no point adding up a graph with a 50bhp difference.
I dont run water cooling on my T4 and never have, i have had the turbo on for 3 years aswell. I didnt run a dump valve either this summer [not enough vac take offs on my inlet] but i will be fitting one for next year.
I cannot say i have heard of many GT series turbos failing unless they have been miss used or an oil pressure drop has happened, this would cause any turbo to fail though. Like Mark and Rich have said they need water cooling, a dump valve, and dont like ALS if you choose to ignore this, then thats your own fault.
Now i am running one of Marks inlet cams i will get it on the rollers again.
Steve - Many people are using the GT series turbos and no problems. Yes they have to be water cooled and yes you have to run a dump valve but you would be foolish not to on a T4 as well - certainly the dump valve anyway.
The GT30 turbo's I have run have been faultless, So this is not what I am seeing,
I have only seen 1 GT30 fail and this was because it was not water cooled and over 6 years ago and have never seen a fault since.
Mark
Mark, that's very interesting.I know u use a lot of GT turbos on your big bhp conversions.Cyril from South Wales has a GT30 on his escos.
CheeRS.Lee.
Fucking hell how long can you keep this post counting going just over if you should or shouldn't get a turbo......get the fucker bought man and go see Uncle Tony for a live map.........NOW.

I'm in the same position at the moment, cant decide wether to keep my TT T38 and have headwork/cams to suit etc, or to go T4 and sell my T38, i want more power but want it to be driveable and responsive as well.
How different is the r/b T4 compared to the "normal" T4 in terms of coming on boost etc?
Vince has offered me a very good deal on a normal T4, would it be worth spending the extra on the r/b one?
