Default Grove Garage Stage 3 . What ECU?

Hi All, I got my first 3dr cossie a few days ago and I am taking it Grove Garage in Essex to get some advice and I am thinking of getting a stage 3 conversion done. I really wanted to get the gunship chip from Norris but it is quite far from my place.

Can you tell me what kind of Torque figures should I expect to get from them on a stage 3? Also what ECU should I get for this conversion.

My car is standard apart from a coil pack conversion.

Cheers

Hi Ray,

I think Grove use Ahmed Bayjoo chips from memory, when you say stage 3 are you still on your T3 Turbo and standard injectors etc?? need to know more of your Spec tbh mate..

I,m running a TT T3 at present in 803s and it made just shy of 300bhp, i,m also on Level 6 ECU too.

For Stage 3 you,ll need Green Injectors, Head gasket?? i,d maybe think of a L6 Ecu, but that,s just me, 3 bar Map Snsor, -31 Actuator and a Group A Coil is a good move too, also a re-wire of the fuel pump too Ray..

Probably forgoten bits but i hope this helps...

Edited to say, just read you,re still standard.....so you,ll need pretty much all the above...

The ecu's mentioned can only run a coilpack after a coilpack conversion, not as std to clear that up.
I would do immediately the mentioned fuel pump rewire and a fan rewire.
The different chips/stages of tune are based on putting a chip into your existing ecu.
NMS would be well worth travelling to, as he does good work, and that is where I'd go if still with std ecu.

Hi,

Staffi, The car is standard so I guess it has the standard T3 Turbo and standard injectors.

The reason I was asking about ECUs is that I was just wondering if I had to upgrade the ECU from standard so it will be ready for stage 3 or will they put the stage 3 chip in the standard ECU.

Mechanic, I am based in Rainham, Essex not far from Grove. I was also planning on going to Norris to get the gunship missile chip but as I am so close to Grove I was thinking just to take it there for the Stage 3.

Tabetha, I am really thinking of going to Norris as you mentioned good things about them a few times.

I dont mind changing the ECU to accommodate the gunship or stage 3 but I just dont know what to cahnge it to.

Once again. Thank you all for the support.

PIC of engine

Hi Ray, yes defo Standard that, T3 etc, Yellow injectors...you,ll have the Level 1 ECU which tbh isn,t the best now, i,d go to Level 6 or 8 if i were you, Karl will map on the Level 1 but usually recommends 6 or 8.

I,ve used Karl for mapping about 6 times now and imo he,s the best out there on the Weber Ecu..

Gunship can be done on the Standard Injectors, but again, i know Karl likes the conversion on 803 Green injectors, you,ll get a set of them of here in good used condition, you,ll also need a, 4x4 cooler, 3bar, -31 Actuator, head gasket maybe, if you can stretch your money a Group A Coil too...

Have a look at the ecu behind the cover in the dash(passenger side) and see what colour adjusting screw it has, as a lot upgrade from L1 to L6 anyway, and it might already be done.
Just to confirm all the stages 1/2/3 can be fitted to any level(std) ecu, but will need the extra bits for stage 3.

Yes if you're planning an upgrade from standard and you aren't sure what is the best place for your money, go Stage 3, it's the best value bang-per-buck and you won't be wanting to up the power again next week like if you went Stage 1.

Cossie's were originally the naughty side of 300bhp, but ford insisted they be de tuned, due to climate at the time with fast car sales.
