Default duff diff..??

How much whine does a healthy diff have, if any..??

Mine has whined a bit since ive had it, as well as an awful racket on overrun. Initially i thought it was the exhaust rattling against the bodywork, however i've been under there a few times to make sure its clearing everything as well as checking everything is tight.

Only thing i can think of now is the diff..do they make such a racket when worn/on their way out.?

Where is the best place to get it overhauled.? May as well get the box done at the same time as well.?

It could be the pads between the tank and bodywork, it sounds just like the diff as it uses the tank as a drum to resonate sound, ie if pads are missing makes a racket, but a small diff whine is ok.

thought it was the tank, as it was loose when i stripped it for underseal. Didn't notice any pads tho..

will drop it and check, maybe make up some new ones..thanks for the tip

Just look where it rests on the chassis channels, there are two points where it touches, just use a bit of thick rubber between it there, I used evo stick to glue on the oe ones in their location, even an old rad hose cut up would do the job, or a bit of tyre.
