Default help

just been out in my saph and its lost all power.
i had just set off from a junction(it had been boosting ok before hand)
and i had no boost, but a bad wirring noise and smoke coming out the back. when i got back home a took the boost pipes off and the turbo has some play but has not been leaking oil. but without the turbo connected the car is still smoking badly
what do you think it is?
im thinking headgasket or rings

oh right, i thought you had this problem earlier today.. ok mate. you said that the turbo don't seem to be losin oil. if it was then this would explain the smoke when ya turbo aint plumbed in, just by oil left in the hot exhaust system etc when it spewed it out, but if it aint doing that then I would stick a thread up asking if theres anyone near where ya live that can come and have a look. seen a few threads like this recently. I must admit its hard to diagnose by this rather than seeing it in person.. good luck though mate

yes the turbo spins. it was only running around 10 psi. all the pipes apear to be connected. the car started fine this morning with no smoke, but as soon as you rev it it white smokes. and it make no differance if the turbo boost pipes are connected of not, it does the same thing

White smoke, unless it's steam suggest the oil is leaking in the exhaust side of the turbo straight down the exhaust.

I agree, but I thought he said it definately wasn't leaking oil, it does make sense though with white smoke

Just an assumption on my part, as he mentions taking off the boost pipes but not the exhaust, it's certainly not going into the engine, otherwise it would be blue and burnt.
