Default Sierra Locks and Ignition.

Hi all, new to this site! Got a mk1 sierra thats been off the road since 2000 and been sitting garaged for the 4 years i've owned it. Lost the key. Can get in fine as not locked but i'm in a pickle. What locks and ignition will work? (assuming others will fit as it's fords!?) Or can I find the key "type" and get one cut? Any advice greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Sometimes the key number was on the door locks barrel(inside door), so look there first, as it was on my mk1.

If you are in and can change the locks complete sets are available if you can't find the numbers.

After more advice. Got my door lock out and it has a code on it. Does anybody know of a place to get a key made that'll work from this code? Are there any web companies at all? All info appreciated. Cheers.

You'll need the logbook and proof of ID I expect but yeah - Ford can do it

Will be a 6 figure number if key number eg 123123, but any decent ford parts guy can look straight at the key and order, or tell a decent key cutter the number and he can do one while you wait, that's what I do, there is only four depths of cuts so easy system to know.

Yeah got a few quotes, one was about £30 (inc P&P) as they're special order off the key blank place?? Thought that was excessive for 2 keys, am i wrong?

That is excessive in the extreme, I pay about £4 to £5 each key.
There is a specific hand held machine for cutting these type of ford keys, which is simple to do and childs play.
Oh balls just noticed it's a mk1, so it will have a flat type key ?, I didn't notice that bit sorry.
So unfortunately seesm you are at thier mercy, short of a complete lock change from the scrapies!!

Got another quote at £17 for first key and £9 for any additional. Thought bollocks to that too as I was bidding on a set on ebay. Won it last night. About £27 inc P&P. My locks were tatty anyway as someone tried screwdrivering them by looks of it.
