Default Low fuel warning lamp

Is there a way to test the Red low fuel warning lamp on a Sapphire Cosworth?

I know it comes on when the ignition is turned on and the Amber screen wash flashes a few times but thats it.

I have ran it as low as I dare before it runs out but I'm wondering if it will ever come on.

Any ideas peeps

Screen wash shouldn't flash - if it does it means the sensor is faulty.

The low fuel comes on then goes off.

The screen wash flashes 5 times then goes off. I'm sure it states that in the manual....

Have you done something with your bonnet vents?

Could have sworn they were black when I seen them.

My screen wash light comes on when i flick the ignition.. but doesnt falsh. Does the same in my dads car aswell, but thats an xr so could be different.

as said above if the warning lamp flashers there is a problem with the sensor.

Do you mean the amber screen wash light bud? mines flashed since day one and after 5 flashes it goes out. When the washer light level gets low it does come on though.

I'll have to leave my petrol to go right down next time and see what happens....

Odd.....

It does work though.

Ignition on and the fuel light comes on steady and the screen wash flashes 5 times then all lights go out.

When screen wash is low it comes on.

I am yet to see the fuel light come on.

Yes as said if either bulb flashes when switched on it indicates a fault, think my light comes on near enough on red. If your comes on when ignition comes on and then extinguishes this indicates bulb and circuit good so maybe sender is not making contact.

A flash on any of these lights is a sign of a dicky connection, on that circuit, I am sure I read somewhere it being 1.8 gallons when red comes on, but best not chance it!!

The check procedure is they come on for about 5 secs then go off if all is well, there is likely a high resistance somewhere on the line.
