At my school wee are building a kit car similar to a caterham. We have bought new gators to fit half shafts from a ford sierra but don't know how to put them on, can anyone help?

 

The circlip has to come off the end so that you can withdraw the complete joint. There's an online emanual here somewhere. Will see if I have any pics.

As above, but before taking the joint off, which can be tight, wrap some rag around the
steel rollers, so they can't come of the centre bit, as they contain lots of tiny needle rollers, which will mean a new joint if you lose just one of these.
Best way would be to put the joint in a vice so the shaft itself passes through the jaws with it resting on the top edges of the jaws, you can then just take circlip off and tap shaft out.

Can any one help me here, please. I have taken apart my sierrra half shaft (Lobro) apart to replace the CV boots. The CV are both exactly the same and will need to bolted to the diff and the hub carrier. However I need to put the half shaft back exactly in the way it was prior to disassembly. I am rather concern if the half shafts were rotating in the opposite direction metal fatigue can occure and the splines can stripp off.

The on line manual diagram refers to the grove that should be on the outer side, but there goves on both sides, which makes it very confusing!!!!!!!!!!!
