Default fitting 6 degree rear beam

hi all, will be fitting one in the near future to my saph 4x4 cossie, what bolts etc could i replace with stainless(or just renew?) and the sizes of these also if possible?these torx ones on drive shaft sprung into mind, going to give diff a rebuild, can i do this, how big a job really is it?if so where would i get a diff rebuild kit?(no strange noises coming from it tho)or specialised job?anything else worth renewing when rear end all in bits?going to get new brake backing plates are these all the same?

any help much appreciated
thanks col93saphcos

Don't use stainless blolts. Use plated ones and try to reuse the torx bolts if you can. I changed mine for socket head one and the work loose due to the bolt head not being as big.

Hi Col

If you get chance, remember to write up your driving impressions/experiences before and after fitting the new beam. Very interested to hear what you think!

Is your diff mount in good nick?

will do, hoping to notice a differance as normally driving on kind of humpy twisty roads and sure suspension is using most if not all of its travel alot and can feel dodgy at times also think shes set up as best as i can do suspension wise,so looking forward to finding out if makes a differance for the better which im hoping!!lol

was going to put uprated mount on

thanks col93saphcos

The gen 909 rear diff mounts looks like the left one

The standard one has less rubber generally and only a small raised section next to the floor mount. The 909 is pretty much solid against the floor.

No, not quite as solid but they were used on all the rally cars and are much closer to poly than they are to standard ones. Also I have been told they were more forgiving handling wise on the loose - which pretty much matches some of our flippin roads I reckon!!

Mines an occassional track car so a good compromise imho

I have ordered my uprated diff mount from R&B Motorsport ( Mr Rainbird ) if you struggle with a supplier. When my beam is fitted I'll put some old tyres on and then get the place down the road to set it up as per the Mike R settings in his old Sapphire thread. I'll see how I get on with those
