Default 1992,Sapphire c/locking relay.

Can someone point me out where the relay is for my central locking ?
Its on a 1992,sierra sapphire cosworth 4x4.

Also does the c/locking have a ecu of its own?

Ive got a large power drain going back from the factory ford alarm unit to one of the items connected to it. Does that make sense ?

I think from using the search results that the central locking is a likely candidate.

Although my car no longer uses the ford alarm itself, when you disconnect the alarm ecu, i prevent a .08 amp power drain.
I fitted a replacement ford alarm ecu this week but no change in the results
Now when i take out fuses 10 and 12 which go to the central locking through the ford alarm ecu,i also lose the .08 amp drain.

Ive had a good look under the drivers side dash area but only found the indicator relay there.
But bolted next to the nearside glovebox is nearly a dozen factory fitted relays which i have no idea which does what
Apart from the pink one which is normally the fuel pump relay.

Anyway, any help appreciated please

I know it's not much help, but I just looked in the 2wd handbook from ford, and it doesn't list this relay for the 2wd either.
My mates got a sapphy(2wd) in bits so I will have a look for you.
I can tell you that I can't see it being one of the ones near the glovebox, as these are just basic single pole relays, on 2wd anyway.

It seems to be invisable at the moment

I was looking in a haynes manual today for a standard sapphire and it states that if you replace any central locking component, then you should change the relay as well.
Then when you go to the wiring diagram it doesnt show any relay being wired in !!

If you could have a look at your mates i'd appreciate it

Well iv'e found the source of my power drain after much searching, and it was due to some bodger who was (supposedly)qualified to fit a cat 1 alarm

Just because someone can sign you a instalation certificate, does not guarantee its been done to a high standard

I'm sorry for forgetting should have given me a nudge, glad you got it sorted though.
Isn't it amazing how many people bodge though, often just for a quick buck.
