Default xr4x4 shaft problem

went about fitting my xr shafts tonight and i can't get the bottom joints in. is there anything on the strut that needs undoing, or do i just need another pair of hands to force it in?

Do you mean the lower ball joint that sits at the bottom of the hub carrier?

yeah, i'm doing the job on my own and i can't get it in. normally there is enough in-out movement to manage but the shaft is that much longer, i can't do it. reckon it will go in with an assistant holding the hub, and me moving the bottom arm?

Easy way to do it one person, is to place a bar resting on the arb,and the other end rest it in the gap where the inner endof the tca is, as it is held in there inside the gap bit , use one about 2 1/2 feet long, this way you can put your foot on it and push down whilst manouvering the hub/tca together.

+1, it doesnt work in most cases they are too long.

if you have shaft issues, check engine mounts and ride height.

this is why your having issues fitting them...they are too long.
if you do manage to get them in, you wont be able to corner....

engine mounts have been done, thats what did 90% of the damage, i reckon. the other 10% by the 35mm drop. oh well, all fixed in a the proper way now
