Thinking about converting my car to 2wd, bits i think i will need are as follows:

hubs
front shocks
sump
gearbox
prop shaft
rear diff
2wd front brakes

is there anything i have missed? And would the sale of the parts on my car cover the cost of the 2wd bits?

drive shafts & i think you have to mod the chassis rails, but unsure of what has to be done

i thought you only had to mod the chassis rails when you go 2wd to 4x4?

Why not leave the front hubs, brakes, shocks as they are? Just unbolt the front drive shafts. Same goes for the sump.

Don't forget a 2wd starter motor.

that's all you need

if you want to do a proper 2wd conversion you'll need the rack, intermidiate shaft, hubs, suspension, tca's, crossmember and arb at the front as well as the rear 2wd setup with the bigger diff and driveshafts

if keeping it on 4x4 hubs with no shafts in, will this not leave the bearings exposed?

no mate, the cv part is removed, the bearings are int he hub, the cv part is behind the hub where the driveshaft would go

the axle shaft is the drive shaft
the inner race and steel balls and cage are removed
the outer socket is still retained
the stub axle you see is where the bearings go into the hub
nothing else to worry about
