Post 4-layer steel head gasket

Hello!

First, sorry for my crapy English!

I bought a 4-layer steel head gasket from England.
I am unfortunately a bit unsure about the quality of this. I ask you here if you can see if you recognize it, or may speak on the quality, then it is from your home country.
I would be very grateful if you would help me with this, then it will sit in a Sierra Cosworth 4x4 -91 with about 500hp.

Regards! /Jonas

www.ajusa.com seem to be the company. There's a head gasket of that model on a Russian website I found on Google, http://translate.google.co.uk/transl...n%26safe%3Doff Which says it's an Ajusa head gasket.

Other than that, never heard of them.

Hello!

Interesting! Is there any indication on Mountune gasket?
The only text that is on my gasket is: "AJUSA 178 TOP"

Can I trust this one, or should I use a GrA?

you will have to ask someone who has a wrc mountune gasket to see if they have the same markings on them, they are probably made by a sub contracted company for mountune.

if it is a mountune gasket, it is the one to use!

Ok. If you get a shot at something special place in the gasket, do you can tell me if there is a Mountune gasket or not?
It had feelt good to know if there is at good gasket or not, so I dont need to worry about it anymore.

Ajusa, can they might buy in Mountune gaskets and put his own name on them?
Their name can been writen on the gasket afterwards? Especially if they look exactly same?

Hello again!

I had a friend here for a little while ago. He has bought a 'real' WRC 4-layer steel gasket, and we compare my and his and we can not find any difference at all! Everything is the same, layout and thickness.

I still believe that Ajusa set its own name on the gaskets they buy, and which they then sell as 'real' WRC gaskets. Right?

If you have the two side by side, and can't tell the difference, I'd be happy with that

personally i wouldnt; imagine putting it all together only to find out the gasket fails straight away

for the price of a genuine gasket i know what i would do - especially in a 500hp engine

Well, no one has come up with something good reasons not to use the seal, only that Ajusa do not produce them?

I personally do not think Ajusa is shit, but I want to hear others views and experiences.

i have heard of and know cars that had cometic gaskets fail, which is why i wouldnt use one, not worth the risk imo when the wrc one is now £180

no its not a big deal, but why have an issue when it can be avoided?

if i had the choice i would rather not, replace cam belt, head gasket, head skim, ancillary gaskets, etc
just for the sake of using a better quality gasket to start with

im sure many peeps use the cometic without issue, but i chose not to use one because of the stories i heard

My opinion on the head gasket thing is that cometic and wrc are just as good as each other IF they are clamped down well enough.. i believe that most heads lift too much but with the wrc having 4 layers it disguises the fault.

Just my opinion.

I have always run cometic and will continue too.

Ive had a cometic gasket and it weeped oil from the back of the engine, stuck a wrc one on, straight swap and its been fine ever since, i was told at the time by the guy that built my engine that the cometic ones leaked on occasion ????? but this was when the cometic gaskets had just become popular, they are better now i beleive, but i would stick with wrc
