4x4 uprated engine mounts bracket into 2wd car?????
a conversion bracket to allow use of 4x4 engine mounts on a 2wd engine....
As uprated 2wd engine mounts cost a LOT more than the uprated 4x4 ones and with a pair of well made brckets there's possibly room for a saving......................IF anyones interested I might have a bash at creating some conversion brackets & you lot can see what you think.
Cheers

the vibratech ones for the 2wd are pretty much the same as 4x4 ones just with a big ally block stuck on the end... so the price of 2 bits of alloy must make the rest of the price up... didnt realise it was so expensive...
id be interested in seeing some ideas tho...

20K+ Super Poster.
I've noticed the big proce difference as well, think it's a rip myself.
As above would be good to just make some of these "adaptor" blocks to enable use, I'd be more than happy personally if they were just regular mild steel, but think alloy would sell a lot better, especially if shaped nicely with anodised done as well.

right, my mates drew a blank, as to make ally ones is about the same difference as the cost in the mounts.
I'm going to spend my dinner break working on some drawings to cut them out of mild steel 3mm, dont think there would be much in it weight wise as the ally version would be a big solid lump whereas these can be hollow.
I'll get a set made and powder coated up and put pics up in the next week or so.
Sorry I let this one go to sleep....on the case now.

If you're planning on making brackets to use 4WD mounts, anyone who wanted to fit them would need brackets and 4WD mounts. Wouldn't it be better to make an economical 2WD mount from a solid block?

I've got in touch with 2001ode about permission to use his drawing posted above, then we should be a step closer to getting some mock ups made and priced by CDF. I've seen brand new uprated 4x4 mounts for 55 pounds delivered in the for sale section, haven't seen a 2wd mount even close to that price!

i know a 2wd around had it's own mounts produced aswell. One massive rubber enginemount for heavy machinery,(complete with metalplates on top en bottom bondend to the rubber) and a machined nylonblock (taperd) to match up the desired length. Tomorrow i'll have a look if i can get a picture of it, And see if i can dig up the costs of them.

all depends on price
nobody wil say they'll take a set if they dont know a price
i know your trying to help, i'm not having a dig or anything like that
as said earlier, i might be interested if the price is reasonable

Nice one CDF,
I had a bash at making a pressed steel version but to no avail.
The difference in 2wd and 4wd mount price is roughly £40 per mount so the work involved wouldn't have made it viable for me to do them.
Good luck
I will buy a set

uploaded the pics of the 'diy' enginemounts. Havent found the bill of those yet. Probably the nylon blocks were the most expensive, and personally i think been left cilindrical would serve the same purpose, but cheaper

Looking at my pics, i noticed a brand on the mounts.. I knew the owner was speaking of 'heavyduty mounts' But didn't expect underground mining machinery
