How hot do your Cossie's run?
My 4x4 Sapphire runs at about 87 degrees when driving normally but if I sit in traffic the temprature rises to about 98 degrees when the fans cut in. The problem I have is that the fans seem to struggle to get the temprature back down to the point where they cut out again.
The engine water temps drop to around about 90 degrees when stationary with the fans on and slightly lower when the car is moving. The car does have an RS500 intercooler fitted which will restrict air flow a bit , but I have fitted a PACE 50mm rad and have also replaced the fans with a set from Pro alloy. Have also changed the fan sensor and fitted a new seperate fan loom. I fitted the new loom as I was worried the old wiring may burn out with the fans running for such long periods of time.
Does anyone else have problems with the cooling fans running for long periods of time? Is there anything I can do to improve the cooling?
PS also have a high pressure header tank fitted and swirl pot.

Unsure fellas, will check when i get to work tomorrow. Bloody fans are a mare, so we trialled many fanswitches and finally got one to perform perfectly as required, comes on about 94, and drops to about 90 then goes off.
Remember, fans should NOT be on when your moving.

Another one here after price info for switch.....my fans also run for a long time since fitting an alloy rad, tbh never really bothered me as the fans ive fitted are mega quiet but if there's sommot to sort it, I may as well buy it

In that case aint you better leaving the standard fan switch in place? If its an actual air flow problem as apposed to a heatsink problem with the switch?

I dont have any cooling probs with the car whatsover and I keep a very good eye on temps.
I have the SPA water temp sensor in the head and the standard gauge wired to the top rad hose and the car runs about 89 tops but would like to bring that down to 80-85 if i could.

I have the exact same configuration even down to the Pro Alloy fans and mine is just the same, sitting in traffic the temps slowly rise and rise its as if the fans cant cope. The fans dont sit tight to the rad (about 1cm away) and i was thinking perhaps they are not close enough to pull the air through the rad and are pull air around the gap..

Its is quite intersting as I was contemplating replacing my standard fans with the SPAL ones from Pro alloy until I read your post..

i thought i had a more serious issue with my car with the hot running now im thinking it could just be the rad and fan combo..
Do have issues with low oil pressure though so engine could be on its last legs

Because the radiator is designed to cool your water by convection once air flows through it, IE, your moving. The fan is there to RAW the air through it when your NOT moving. Simple as that.

One of my pet hates when folk drop the car off for a setup and dont mention it ONLY works off a switch, then it sits there and boils over in my workshop. They are automated systems for a reason!
Yes mate.
Will price these up tomorrow for you all fellas. maybe i should have pushed these years ago, never crossed my mind.

Ive got the Spal fans fitted on mine, doesnt overheat whats so ever, only problem ive got is over cooling due to fan switch suffering from heatsinkage from the alloy rad its self. If you want to lower your temps even further down to 80-85, then a fan switch thats cuts out sooner aint going to be your answer imo. 80-85 actualy sounds a tad cold to me?

Plenty left pal. Well, a few anyway.
If anyone wants one, just paypal the funds across to my account and add in the notes section that its for a fan switch. I will post them all tomorrow for you.
Note:
Overseas postage is Ł10 though instead of 3.
