anyone thought of it ,you can get some realy sophisticated mappable kits now for turboed cars,and you dont get any detonation with lpg ,ultimately mappable via a lap top.....i may try it as the kit is as cheap as a decent chip a set of greens and a 3 bar........i recently fitted one to a subaru turbo in standard trim ,that runs lovely......and cheaply...any thoughts on this? [ and before you poo poo the idea ,remember the vauxhall touring car that won everything ,it ran on lpg!!!]

We had a 2 day training course on vehicle hazards and covered LPG cars.. when they go up they go big time! When the valve starts leaking theres nothing you can do about it and the safe distance is 400 metres! No matter how much water you put on one it'll leave a hole in the road.. they are economical tho.. and keep fellas like me i a job

why do you think a cossie needs good fuel. if you want to drive cheap then buy a cheap car.

you fools ,i have fitted over 150 lpg kits and never had one go up ,as for cheap fuel , you do not get any detonation with gas at any given compression ratio, i think that you will find that the unleaded fuel is the cheap and nasty one. look at the tuning potential of lpg loads of boost and no detonation no melted pistons no broken rings,and a gas conversion if fitted correctly is safer than a tank full of petrol,admittedly the early lpg kits used to go bang but they used a crude mixer setup ,but nowadays they are very very safe ,if a petrol tank catches fire you cant put it out ,lpg tanks DONT catch fire it isnt possible ,even if the rest of the car is on fire,they vent out of a pipe in this situation ok the end of the pipe will be alight but it wont burn back to the gas tank,unlike a petrol tank which will explode ,youd have to get an lpg very hot to make it explode,doyou think i would consider fiting lpg if was dangerous ,let alone the 50grand motor homes i have converted ,do your homework lads

lpg gas when its burned becomes very hot. especially when you should use it in your stage 3 cossie. its not about detonation but the gas itself is to hot.

if it was ok like you said then why dont i see it in porsches and ferraris, audi RS4 etc etc

wrong,it burns cooler than unleaded and i also fitted a kit to a dodge viper please try to get the facts correct and as i said remember that vauxhall touring car that won alot ,what stage of tune do you think that was? can you explain why it is not possible then,id like to know ? [im sure i didnt post this in the muppet room ]

im not sure but is lpg 110 ron so i would of thought u could get bhp and no det running it ?

then ask Karl, Martin, Stu and others why they dont use LPG on there high power cossies? I see no LPG on Porkies cossie with 600bhp. And the Escos from A1 and the Focus from A1 if it is so much better.

why do you think most car which runs lpg have head problems when they have some miles. BECAUSE of the heat LPG produce.

why is it that normal cars run better when they switch from LPG to petrol with 98Ron. my fathers car a sierra 2.0GT had it both. it was faster with petrol on 98 then it drove with LPG.

then ask the experts why they dont use it......

wrong its because lpg has no lubicating properties such as benzine?,nothing to do with the heat it produces .and it is only a problem in older vehichles with cast iron valve seats or set up incorrectly [i.e running to weak, thats why your sierra was slow ,98 octane or 110 octane, lpg will run on a very lean mixture,and to make it cost effective ,you have to run a weakish mixture,but if you want your performance back ,you just increase the fueling on the mapping..................anybody else think theyre clever wimwerf, and as for the experts on cossies ,they have probably never even looked into it as it is still a bit of a grey area,but GM did and raced

LPG is not for a cossie.

But apart from that there are systems that are more powerful on LPG then on petrol but the old LPG system aren't

The new systems like Vialle LPI have the same power output as one on petrol because the LPI system is liquid injected. LPI is Liquid Propane Injection
The older systems aren't liquid and that's the loss of power.

But i agree with RS_Gus and Cosworth3dr, only for forlifters and cooking

actually they didnt...

they tried it .. yes.. but kept loosing...
and after that.. they just put 130 ron racefuel in the gas tank and drove on that... and won everything.. noone even thought about checking what was really in the gastank .. and this is not a joke...
