There is NO ADVANTAGE at all on your std engine, the lower CR's are used as you can run more boost, but off boost effecienecy drops, so keep std CR unless you need to drop it.
If you want to make an amazing difference to response lag etc, get a DE SHROUDED head done, around £275, brings the torque in 500-800rpm lower, and makes it last 1500rpm further up the rev range, mine peeks at 330lbft at 2200rpm and has the same at 6500rpm, due to modded head.

Forget polishing as it slows down the gas speed, you need a rough finish for perfomance.
Porting is ok so long as it does NOT increase the port sizes, as this will lose gas velocity.
I would phone Darren at DAMICO, 01953 717784, he did my head to GREAT effect, and his are developed on flow rigs, engine dynos etc so he knows what works.

I spoke to Darren today, and unfortunately they are still having problems getting a website off the ground.
Additionally he said he would not deal with a customer that far away, which shocked me a bit to be honest, I did enquire as to whether he would do an exchange head, but he only mods customers heads.
Sorry about this, was a shock to me as well, shame as he is really good.
I have no idea what the tuning scene is like in Singapore, I know it is monstrously hartd just to get a license, as my bro has just spent three years there, stayed for a year at RAFFLES, he loved it.
Sorry I couldn't be much help on this occasion.

your bro stay for a year in the Raffles! man that will cost alot! lucky guy..
the ford scene here is vey sad.... first of all there is only 6 sapphire 2wd cossie and only one workshop know something about them... but alot of time they do crap job..
all of s are nuts about our cars but we don't really have real expertise on mods.. the worst is trying to get parts.... the local agent do not carry any spares at all , all parts have to be shipped from the UK and cost of shipping is very very high.. sometime it even cost more than the parts we ordered.....
i really what to get the head done... can i send you my cylinder head and you can get him to carry out the job and send it back to me? maybe i can pay you for your service and the shipping cost?

I am happy to do that for you, but will NOT take anything for doing so, happy to do it FOC, as only about 10/12 miles away from me.
When my bro stayed at Raffles, his firm payed, and he owns the firm so no doubt claimed it back in taxes anyway, was there for 3 years total, moved into a flat and moaned about the cost of renting was so high.
He was telling me that he used to run form taxis to buldings due to the heat was so intense, and a shopping mall he went in was about 8/10 stories going downwards under the ground!!
It was he who told me about the buying a license and car permit etc, he even brought back his 400cc bike from there that he used as transport.
Did you know there is supposed to be a sea monster sometimes seen in the harbour ?, don't know if he is winding me up as I am into these things.

I did a bit of research, there were sightings of a sea serpent at various times in the harbour!!
I would get a price for the work first, if you want to come over, you can always crash at mine for a few days, bring the head with you, and I'll be happy to run you around.
I'll pm you my email.

ORCHARD ROAD is where the shops are my bro was on about, he told me the name of the other shop, but can't remember it, and couldn't spell it anyway.
I did not realise that Singapore's first language was english, but there are three main other languages as well.
I had to leave my head a good two weeks for the mods, just depends what you want doing to it, bro told me not many cars over 10 years old where you are either!!

Orchard road is where most of the shopping centres are... yup , English is the main the other two are mandrain and malayu..

Singapore IS one of the most expensive place to own a car.... being a very small island the government came out with a clever way of " controling car population" every car needs to bid for a cetificated of entitlement ( COE) before registering their car.. and the price of coe can be very high. THis COE once reaches as high as S$60,000 or about 20,000 pounds! Today the COE is hovering around $18,000. This COE entiltled you to use the vehicle for only 10 years... so most cars are scrapped before it reached 10 years.. But you can extent the useage of your car by buying a PQP cert . PQP price is based on the 3 months average of the revailing COE prices... the price for PQP now is about 15,000.

Do you know that when the sapphire cossie was launched 18 years ago it cost $140,000!

oh i forgot to mention that to curb traffic congestions... we have ERP gantry or (Electronic Road Pricing) round the island.
