Rear beam rubbers removal, replacement

Rear beam rubbers removal, replacement
I am intending to powder coat the rear beam of my three door, it has the standard rubber mounts in it. They look like they are not easy to remove without destroying them.
If they can be removed and re used how would you do that.
If they cannot be replaced where could I get some poly replacements at a reasonable price.

I made up a tool for removing and installing these quite easily from some old box section metal, with a bit of long studding about a foot long through the centre.
I wedege the beam away from the body with a block of wood to get room but it works 100% perfect every time.
Be careful which poly ones you use if you do as some cause chronic vibration.

When I install poly's I wait around a while and wind it a bit at a time in as it bunches up otherwise, just grease well and wind a bit at a time to get in.
From my own experience I much prefer Escort cossie beam bushes with a GGR axle tightening kit, I find it much better than poly's.

Thanks for the advise, you reckon I should use standard Escos beam bushes and the GGR axle tightening kit, rather than poly (was there a poly brand that does work in case I have trouble getting bits) is there a specific part number on those items.
Do you have a pic of the tool I am not sure what you mean from the text.
The beam is off the car currently but I could put it back on easily as the car is stripped bare...
PS, did you have any luck on the window winder pics, you would have seen my pics on what I have etc on the other post...
Thanks
Gavan

if it's on the car you put a jack under the beam and undo the plate and main bolt
then you let down the beam
then you put a big socket inbetween the bush and the chassis
then you jack the beam up again and it pops out
to put the bush back in again you put the jack under the bush and jack the bush into place and it pops in again
use plenty of grease though

I got my axle bushes out of the beam when it was off the car. Took it to work, got the gas bottles on it and set the bush alight/melted it. Hit the centre with a big hammer and they fell out really easily.
To fit poly bushes when beam was powder coated i just greased them up, got it in the press and they slid straight in.
The bushes/joints in the arms were VERY tight and took alot of pressure from the press to remove. I fitted poly bushes to the arms as the outer bushes/joints were knackered and the gen ford ones are pretty expensive for 4.

Hi all,
As already said you are best removing the bushes when the beam is on the car (link below to site with instructions) as to refitting them i did it in a vice with some wood on the jaws, used a bit of strong electrical wire to wrap round the bit that pops through the hold and sits on top, after applying a fair amount of grease you pass the wire throught the hole give is some presure and slowly pull the wire, it has the effect of pulling the lip the correct way round and it should pop through the hole. Bit like fitting a windscreen to a S2 Turbo with the wire in the gasket edge..
I have just finished reassembling asfter powercoating the rear running gear of my Saph.. Looks the nuts..

Thanks for the advise,
I got them out really easily.
I took the bar into a suspension guy, he looked at them and said hmm you either have to cut em out with oxy or use a press... as people said here. He walked out to the back room, I heard the press and a minute later he returns with my beam and the two bushes...
I asked how much, he said 5-10 dollars... but then said dont worry about it...
So I am now preparing for powder coating...

I cant help noticing the rust you have to deal with in your restoration projects... wow, my beam and nuts etc are all rust free... and I was noticing all the parts I get from the UK are rusted to some degree ... which I accept ...
Even though parts are hard to find in Aus, at least we dont get that rust eating us out...
