4x4 saff abs
just been out in the cossie and on the way home the abs light came on after restarting now i can partially feel the abs pump going and the pedal now drops slightly before braking without it feeling spongey.
has anyone got any ideas as to what it could be as at the moent i have no acces to any kind of diagnosic equipment

Best bet is to start by cleaning the sensor i'd reckon.
If you jack up the car and take of the wheel you'll see the sensor bolted onto the hub, undo it, clean it, and get a torch, look inside the hub where the sensor is normally located and check for shite inside there, as the sensor reads off the teeth in there. Failing that, fook knows, check obvious things like fluid level or maybe the sensor could be fooked........will be a start anyways.

Ive got a similar fault on my cossie n its been like this for months if im doing under 20 mph n braking the pedal pumps up on my foot as if the abs is kicking in. You cud try n clean the abs sensors thats if u can get them out without snapping them. I think the abs pick up ring on my drive shaft is nackered i just never seem 2 have time 2 look at it. You cud disconnect the abs sensors, use a multimetre n check for resistance on the sensor when u spin the wheels u sud get a reading on the multimeter.

The sensors are easily damaged so take care getting them out. In the meantime until you sort the problem you could pull the plug off the top of the brake fluid reservoir which will deactivate the ABS completely.

Had exactly the same problem with mine, luckily I just cleaned them whilst on the car and touch wood, the problem's stopped. I'm told the only way to sort it properly is to replace the sensors however these are £100 each from Ford
