What are the symptoms of a faulty map sensor?

it will run very rough and wont boost properley

There are many symptoms of a faulty MAP sensor.
Sometimes the car will not start at all.

When my map sensor went it wouldn't idle or run at low revs soon as you booted it though it was fine, it was telling the ECU I was running at full boost!!

Cheers guys...

Im sure it IS the MAP sensor as it throws a puff of black smoke when it cuts off as i put my foot down hard in 1st. Looks like a quick trip to Burtons this weekend!

I don't think that's all that uncommon for a Cossie, anyway good luck with it.

exactly what happened to mine put a new map sensor on and it was fixed
