Default 435 bhp Harvey Gibbs engine

I have for sale the above, the engine was built around 18 months ago then fitted into car for running in (2000 miles) then removed for mapping by Ahmed at Harveys about 9 months ago. Got it back fitted it back in, done a couple of journeys and all seemed great then it was time to try out the anti lag, problem being the gearbox shat itself, so engine came out again my old engine was then refitted along with another standard box while i saved for an uprated item, and to cut an already long story short the car was stolen. Since being off the dyno it was lucky if it covered 100 miles.

The spec is as follows:

New long studded(6) 200 block
New low comp pistons with valve cut outs 7.2:1 (i think will check with harvey)
New BD16 inlet cam
New Bd14 exhaust cam (from blank)
Double valve springs
New vernier pulleys
Brand new T38 turbo
Harvey polished and ported head with matched inlet
WRC head gasket
Big wing sump
Obviously the oil pump, valve stem oil seals, plug leads etc was all new.

Also has the altered throttle body and ICV for anti lag.

As above mapped my Ahmed, engine will come with the P8 ecu with the anti lag board in and all acilleries ready to bolt in and drive.

Reason for sale is that after losing the 3dr i have bought an Escos and i cant really afford the transmission for this sort of power, so going back to good old stage 3.

£5500ono It cost me alot more than this to have built as any of you who are genuinely interested will know.

I think thats it any questions please ask.

Sorry bout the pics.

So was it completely specced and built at Harvey's?

I thought he used 7.5:1 comp on that conversion...

Worth the money easy! Don't be tempted to drop the price to soon just because it doesn't sell immediately! Especially considering I'll be selling mine soon in fairly similar spec and will probably want more than that for it

You may be right about the comp im going to see Harvey in the morning to check, yes all work was done by Harvey, i told him what i wanted, which was basically a good reliable 400+bhp that was still drivable and he done the rest. It may have sold to someone from this forum, i shall know by the weekend.

Put simply the bigest load of grief i have ever had in a car was an SCS Gibbs engine-had to rebuild it from top to bottom...so have others.

Built to 400bhp spec it lasted 7k miles before falling apart,i have listed the catalogue of problems in another post

Build it youself is my advice, they do not use their own development anyway-Mountune cam ect.
Not rocket science what they do.

Your're right its not rocket science;

worst comes to worse its easily worth the cash in parts so I'll just rebuild it myself if/when the time comes as i was just going to do that to mine but this worked out to be a no brainer for the cash involved to rebuild mine to the spec I wanted.

I am changing the spec on this anyway

just had a look at your thread

https://passionford.com/forum/showth...67#post2792667 ?

sorry to hear of your problems

With the exception of dropping a valve (which you have to admit is bad luck) I'll be checking everything else before the engine goes in (even have my own wideband) and have new ancillaries to go on anyway. So I reckon i should be alright

if it lasted 8,000 miles its hardly a badly built engine!!why drag up a 6 month old problem?

Very funny- actually 7-8k miles isnt bad for one of theirs.

I never did get that bolt they left out of my gearbox bell housing-must ask for it back,or
mabe its with the plenum cover gasket they left off.

why would they use their own spec cams in a lower spec/bhp engine when building a higher spec engine they do as it is nessecary and needed

What a strange thing to post in a for sale thread . What exactly did you ask for ? If you ask him to build you a new engine with ALL new parts then thats what you would have got IMO. Ask him to rebuild your engine then you probably got a rebore new pistons and bearings.

Did you even ask him to look at your head, check for missing gaskets etc, he had no reason to separate the plenum or even remove it from the head if you asked him to put you a new set of pistons in.

You get what you ask for, he knows that i would rather pay an extra £300 for him to go over everything before fitting but not everyone wants this and would rather take the risk, which is when builders get bad rep.

A good example is ive just took my Escos engine to Harvey it was on standard bore and i had a set of low comp standard pistons in my garage, he looked at the block and said it needed a bore, i said can you just hone it and drop my new pistons in. He replied yes i can but i think it will keep breaking the top ring. So i could have gone ahead with it ran it for 2K snapped a ring then come on here calling him a twat for not reboring my engine. His fault?

As for the development thing, who put the development into the turbo on the engine Andy just bought off me?

I really am sorry about posting on this thead, mabe i was too naive when i handed over 5k for a full rebuild-i should have checked full meant full.

Mabe if we payed 10 grand they might have used new parts-sorrry to have ill informed you all the best.

Cheers

Funny thing...........................

In that other thread, quotes by Sierra422RS500 seem to be glowing, but both RS500s that he sold (421 + 422) both lunched on their own innards just after he sold them

Not dissing any tuners, just stating facts....................
