Default 1.7 zetec se tuning

I know there are a couple of very old threads on this topic, but does anyone have any info or experience on tuning the 1.7 puma engine?

I have one in a mk5 fiesta, people have said it’s possible to reach 180bhp with head work only??

any ideas what exactly would be needed to get to this?

or any guesstimates what bhp would be made with cams, induction kit, 4 branch and a remap?

I would think 180bhp is pretty ambitious. The Racing Puma claimed 155PS, but I don't think they all made as much as that. They had a different inlet plenum, different cams, different exhaust manifold, less restrictive cat (I think) and different ECU map. To get to 180bhp, I would think you would need some wilder cams than the FRP ones, as well as throttle bodies or high comp pistons.

Just found this company (don't know if they're any good) and they seem to suggest that throttle bodies are needed for 180bhp: https://www.lightningmotorsport.co.u...-3-tuning-kit/
