Default Mk5 fiesta 1.7 puma engine track car- how can I make more power??

i have a mk5 fiesta Zetec S that I bought as a cheap track car. It has a 1.7 puma engine, cage, seats and harnesses, steering wheel, st170 front and rear brakes, coilovers ect

i know nothing about these se engines- all my previous cars have been Zetec or Zetec turbo.

Without doing an engibe swap, how do I get more power? Does anyone do a supercharger or turbo kit?

250 - 300bhp would be handy, the car seems to handle well, just very underpowered...

any suggestions what direction to go down?

I think the only way would be a Zetec turbo engine swap but you said you didn't wanna replace the engine.

What’s involved in putting a 2.0 Zetec in a mk5 fiesta? Quite a bit more than a mk3?

Lightning Motorsport do a 1.7 turbo kit
https://danielperry000.wordpress.com/tuning-kits/, or you can roll your own based on a similar spec.

If you need 250-300bhp, you're doing it wrong

My friend in a boggo 1.7 Puma can upset all kinds of things on track through the twisties. Those little 1.4 Fiesta Challenge cars used to fly round too. What kind of suspension are you running?

I'd make sure the rest of the car is as light and as well set-up as possible before getting into engines. It's an easy way to spend a lot of money without actually having that much more fun.

I was going to say, use the money on tuition and have an open mind, we are never as good as we think we are and even F1 drivers still have training.

As above, add the power last for track, light parts, awesome suspension and the best tyres will make MUCH more difference than 100bhp will
