I have an 03 mondeo tdci 130 I have had an intermittent fault for a while when the engine was booted it caused the glow plugs to flash and if the throttle is still pushed the engine will cut out , turn engine off and back on and off we go ,
The car smokes really heavily ....black smoke , I have checked all the air pipes , the EGR to INTERCOOLER is silicone and is ok the engine has had all air pipes checked and all are ok the air filter changed , EGR cleaned and now BLOCKED
the car is still powerful, until its under load at high revs, the engine cuts out with flashing glow plug/ starts first time and ticks over sweet at 750. it is running good. but it is way too smoky and using way too much diesel (recent ) The smoke is heavy and dark , black in colour ,
p1664 . po251 .p0180 and p1000 which all point to fuel injector pump/ rotary arm . I REALLY DONT WANT TO BUY A PUMP IF IT NEEDS INJECTORS OR VICE VERSA ,
I need my car sorted Aap for as little as possible , please can anyone HELP ?????

Is the inlet manifold all gunged up so it can't get air in? Black smoke is excess fuel.
P1664, P0251 are common codes, to really test it properly it needs the leak off tests doing on the injectors, and fuel pressure tests on live data to check the pump can produce full pressure.
Has the fuel filter been changed recently, have seen people put pumps on these and all they need is a filter![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
P0180 is fuel temp sensor circuit fault..

Hi , Thank you for the reply , yes fuel filter changed 20 miles ago , air filter also , air filter was very dirty though ,
I Have not cleaned out the manifold perhaps I should try that next,
I have seen some one on you tube jet washing the manifold clean after egr cleaner/mr muscle has done its business , might try that unless someone tells me a better way
