Oil Filter Housing
Hey, everyone. First post!
Has anyone had any joy getting Ford to pay for a replacement oil filter housing when the diaphragm ruptures?
Sounds like a total joke that Volvo issued a recall over it, and Ford haven't - even though its the same engine and the same fault.
From what I can see it is an immensely common fault (searches on other forums bring up 50+ pages just for 'oil filter housing') that starts happening around the 30-35k mileage mark. Some people have had it happen 7 times in a year though.
Ford redesigned the new unit so hopefully it won't happen again, but even that stinks in so much as they should replace the old ones with known faults.
I don't know how far going down the sales of goods act (satisfactory quality) route would take me... or if its worth just emailing watchdog/the one show to see if either pick the story up.
I would be interested to hear any past experiences.
Cheers

Your ST sounds like this:

If you pull out the dip-stick air is sucked in and the noise stops almost instantly. The split in the diaphragm causes a vacuum in the crank case...

Same problem here! Engine light came on this weekend. Removing the dip stick while the motor is running you can hear a SSSSSHHHHH! noise. Same with oil cap. Just removed the OFH. Now to find out what these units cost...
