Default Mk4 Engine Conversions

Hi

I have a Mk4 XR3i and I want to bring it up to date a bit more.

I went for this as personally, I prefer the Mk3 and 4 as they have a certain look about them. But the CVH engine was never my favorite of engines, but I can get the best of both worlds here this way.

I want to rip the engine out and replace it with a newer, more up to date engine.

I have been looking at 1 of 3 engines but I have no idea what sort of work it would take.
The engines im looking at are:

RS2000
1800 (130bhp)
2000 from mondeo

So, what would be the best to go for, personally I am more interested in the 2l engines.

What would I need, what parts would I need, and what work is involved

To let you know more about my car, I dont have electric windows yet, no electric roof, and no electric mirrors. Its a basic model really so its less wires I reckon!

Anyone got any ideas about what I can do, whats easier, and whats the best to do.

Im not really looking into the ZVH conversion, I would rather just rip the engine out thats in there, and replace it all and only have 1 type of engine rather than a mixture

I know i need to uprate brakes, im looking into grooved discs and better pads as I want to do this before I start the job

If anyone else has any ideas then please add below as all options will be taken on board

thanks

best ine there would be the 1800 to put the 2 litre out the mondeo in it you need to get a few things off a 1.8 zetec escort engine the rs 2000 engine would be good but its expensive to service and fix

there is a topic in the re-store forum

the guy has put the i4 engine in a mk4

putting zetec in mk4 is easy cause u can buy all the bits to do it

work wise the 1800 zetec is the easy one to do u only need a new engine mount. it bolts to the mk4 box then u just have to wire it in (i think)

look in the re-store forum it will help u loads cause someone has done every thing to a mk4 in there

engines iv seen in mk4's are
zetec 1.6 1.8 2.0
24v v6 st24/200 engines
st170 engine

u could push the boat out and drop a 2.3 duratec in it
