Bought an h reg xr3i mk4 last week had a look at it last night to see what the problem was .
It starts straight away but wont take full throttle have to gently press it and the revs go as far as 4 - 5k then it bogs down , its imposible to drive .
Had a search on other threads but couldnt find a solution .
So far i have changed the plugs and leads and a working coil pack from another xr2i and the fuel filter and the throttle position sensor and still the same problem .
the fuel pump sounds like its working unpluged the pump relay and it wont start at all .
Any ideas ? as its driving me up the wall ?

try dismantling the idle speed control valve and was it out with carb cleaner or petrol. its sitting on ur drivers side strut top.
Also try cleaning the butterfly on ur throttle body & see if it makes any difference.
Good luck

Hi.You need to get the fuel pressure checked and adjusted. Also, any plugs to things like the MAP sensor,CO pot,MAF sensor,ISCvalve,Coil pack and CPS, Pull the plug off and then reconnect. This is a good way of cleaning the contacts in the plug.

Sounds like a MAP sensor problem mate. When they fail the ECU can't respond fast enough under load and sudden throttle openings as it's having to guess the air pressure which governs a lot of the running parameters.
I had a similar fault when I switched my 3i over to OFAC RS management and ballsed-up the wiring.
Like Tonto said, check the electrical connection to it, as well as all the vacuum pipes onto the inlet manifold.
Hope this helps.
