Ford Ka immobilsed
I have a ford Ka2 , 1997 registration.
I went for a (long) walk in the local forest (Hamsterley, ironically on my birthday) and lost the only set of keys.
I walked back to retrace my steps twice- no keys-nightmare
I posted some notes on the fenceposts on the way I took, asking if anyone found them to let me know-nothing-contacted the police-nothing
I assumed it wouldn’t be too complicated a job (well the last time I had this sort of problem cars didn’t have immobilisers….) to get the car started somehow.
So I called the mechanic out.
He couldn’t start the car, and said it was down to the “chip in the key" and some other stuff that I hadn’t a chance of understanding.
Car is now towed back home, dead.
Whilst I understand that answering this kind of question on an open forum wouldn’t be wise, would there be any chance someone could email me with some sort of suggestion about what to do next?
Do I really have to scrap the car because I lost the ignition key?
Having been made redundant (http://grahamchalk.blogspot.com/) I don’t have a lot of money to play with on solving this one (read that as NO money to solve this one
)
Ford said they can sort it out. For £450. (The car cost £250….)
Would anyone out there care to save my life?

Without a key you really are in a bit of bother. Ford may still have the key number on file so you can get a key cut that will work in the ignition and door locks, but then you will need to have it programmed to disengage the immobiliser before it will start.
Failing that you could bypass the immobiliser ( i beleive it cuts the fuel pump so run a switched live feed to the pump, then it would be a case of breaking the steering lock and starting it with a screw driver.
Another option would be to buy yourself a second hand lock set off ebay or similar, this will have all door locks, ignition barrel and fuel cap lock, with keys, however you would still need to bypass the immobiliser.

remove the ecu you have and find out what code it is pop down the scrap yard and get a ecu and key and steering column lock off another same age ka swap them over hey presto your car will fire into life

Well you have to drill the 3 rivets off that hold in the ecu cage, take out the immobiliser module out of your current key and swap it with the matched 1 from the key that matches the ecu u got from scrap yard plug it all back together hey presto all sorted car will now run
and you can open a ka by sliding the number plate down between the window rubbers on the door and hitting the latch, my record is 14 seconds lol
(i dont nick cars btw i used to have dodgy remote control door poppers in mine)
after getting just about every possible electronic wotsit from the scrappys keys locks, ecu , black boxes....the car works again!
In my ignorance I thought you could just twsit some lickle wires together and vrooooooom
will I ever lose car keys again? in this life?
No.
Thanks again all
