Can anyone help I own a st170 an have been struggling to get it into reverse! Now it won't go in at all! I had a quick look with a torch an noticed a spring had worked its way down one of the cables. I fitted a clutch to the car on axle stands about 4000 miles ago so can't see a link. PS don't try this yourself unless your a body builder! It almost killed me! I am a time served mechanic, but left the trade as hours an money was pants! But love keeping handy on the tools. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Gaza123

 

Do you check the gear selector linkage?

When my mate owned the st i own now he struggled to ger reverse. I adjust the gear cables. It took me about 20 mins to sort.
