Default New ST170 owner teething issues

Hi guys new ST170 owner. got a couple of questions if i may. Bought this car from a guy who seemed very genuine and had the proof to go with it too. Few issue have arisen with the car

. He has disconnected the check engine light
. Had about 30 dtc's so i cleared them all to see what im left with after a few drive cycles
. Now left with 1 imrc stuck open IL be investigating at the weekend had a bit of research seems simple enough.

I got a couple of questions, brand of plugs which are best suited for the st170 2002. i might get hold of ford and get some oem ones i had problems before with plugs on my last focus
Noticed from switching from bosch to ngk the car never felt the same in a bad way.

Also air filter k&n or pipercross panel filter or another brand perhaps?

Also my gears are a bit sloppy i.e. 1st to reverse and general feeling im guessing gear linkage cable change can anyone point me in the right direction

And if anyone else can tell me other things i should be looking out for it

And the front n/s wheel is catching on something I’m going to investigating at the weekend

Hi the imrc stuck open could be a simple fix if it's just the clip that the cable is attached to at the throttle body has broke of as is a cheap plastic clip otherwise it could be the imrc box itself that is attached to the bulk head when u look in the engine bay. I put in a k&n typhoon filter in mine it's a nice noise and we bit extra power and a race manifold and sports cat. I have enquired to a lot of people bout remapping it and a few have said it's not worth the money so be careful if ur considering it.

IMRC is simple enough if it's the dsi clip, you need to turn the ignition on and someone watch under the bonnet to see if the cable is moving. Loads of info on the net about both the dsi clip and the controller.

Plugs are best with OEM. They're not cheap though.

Panel filter in the standard airbox, remove the resonator box. Fit an air deflector from an auto model too.

Sloppy gears is a new one for me personally, ours was pin sharp all the time.

Look for my thread in the resto section. Mine had sloppy gears and it was the gear linkage worn. Easy to remove to inspect.
