Default Remapped ST170

Hi, I have just had my st170 remapped and was just wondering whether anyone knew or recommended running it on super unleaded now?

Had it mapped whilst it was on 95ron and now I have filled it up with super unleaded it seems like it's less responsive again under acceleration. Can't see how this would affect it?!

When I was driving around in it after the remap on normal 95ron stuff it was really responsive and the flat spot had gone at 2000rpm upwards. Just kept pulling! Since putting in super it seems to have affected it! 😳

I have emailed the guy. I think he said run it on super unleaded. Will wait and see.

Is it possible the ecu would have changed to adapt to the running of super unleaded as when it was mapped it would have been mapped on 95ron?

It's running at 180bhp now. The guy said run the car on no less than 97ron. Although it still doesn't solve the problem of it seeming to lack power as I have out in higher octane petrol?!

As said before when I got it back from being remapped it was still on some normal petr and it flew!

My guess is as you use better fuel it is meant to cleanse the engine and prevent carbon build up so in doing this it could have moved some crap from the injectors.

If it was mapped whilst on normal 95ron then that's what I'd run it on.

Why would you mP a car on one fuel then be told to use another? It isn't mapped for the higher octane fuel so won't run right. Has it been mapped of just had the software flashed?

Well the guy came out with his laptop and updated the software as it hadn't been to Ford in a long time. He then reprogrammed the ecu. It hasn't been on a RR or anything?

so how would he know its now 180hp, did the vehicle move out of the garage for a on the road live mapping session ? because if no is the answer your car has not been mapped so sounds fishy to me as I agree with the others, as no dyno or no live mapping means your car was not mapped at all and you was mugged off, we are having a dyno day in june at a top reputable tuner so come along

Well it was more of an ecu flash. As he updated the ford software on it and then reprogrammed the ecu. This was in the garage. Then a few days after I took it to a rolling road and got that reading. Just seems like it's lagging now as I've put super unleaded in it.

Where is the destination of the dyno day?

It's had a generic map uploaded by the sounds of it. It shouldn't feel more sluggish on super even if it was mapped foe 95 Ron as it would still burn better. Could be a coincidence and it's something like coolant temp sensor playing up or maf

Sounds like its just a normal / latest ford up date that the car didnt have .

It mite not of even done anything to the ecu. Just to stops faults

Yeah it sound like it as it doesn't make sense that it seems more sluggish on super! I will check the sensors!
