Exclamation RS Replica Wheels - Nut Problem

Hi all,

Have any of you fitted RS replicas to your ST-2's at all?

I've fitted them with OE Ford nuts but they don't appear to be right. Has anyone encountered similar problems or can tell me what nuts they use?

Thanks,

Pete

Getting a slight wobble through the steering. I was getting a major one after fitting them with the aftermarket nuts I already had and so swapped them out for the Ford ones but turned out the problem was a wheel bearing. Had that replaced and was fine but since getting my brakes done the wheel nuts seem to be able to be tightened all the time. I'm wondering if I need some more aftermarket ones as the Ford ones don't appear to sit right

It is quite possible that you have studs that are too long for the new wheels, I know it is an issue with genuine RS wheels. If this is the case then it can crack the nut apart, damage the wheel stud or damage the wheel stud hole.

The cure is to either cut down the studs, or what I would do is get some open ended nuts, usually fitted to mondeos.

I was advised to get these

No idea whether they're right or not though. I think the Ford ones have an angle then a flat bit so the guy at the garage said I needed a fully tapered bottom as at the moment it was only gripping at two points where they angle back in
