Default rev limiter

Hi, could you tell me at what rpm the standard engine rev limiter kicks in on a 2008 mk2 focus st225.
Looking at one the other day, with it sitting idling, when I revved it the revs wouldn't go past 3500, is this normal?

Hi, yes that is normal. I think it is something to do with limiting the torque during first gear to protect the gear box. I'm sure someone on here will correct me if I'm wrong.
