Default Ford focus st

Looking at focus st's, was wondering what peoples opinions are on them? And also what are they like on petrol?

Here's one I've been looking at.

Loved my MK1 1.8 Zetec was RR'd at 145bhp with cams and supporting mods. Went OK for what it was and did high 20s around town and 40+ mpg on a good steady run. ST170s are decent cars for the money but personally wouldn't pay more than around Ł2-3k for one the market for these is real shit. Try find one which is fully loaded with heated Recaros and climate. Very reliable engines mine done 91,000 had no major issues at all and confident it would do 150k miles plus if I kept it and handle OK as well. Decent amount of poke for the size lottery if you get one producing 150bhp or 165bhp due to poor quality control in producing the head.

Title is misleading, car in question is an ST170 not ST225.

Tbh, if you can I would go for the MK2 ST (225) if you want performance, it has more power and is faster etc, ST170 is a good car, but not really fast by any means and tbh I don't believe the 170 is that great of fuel anyway!

I've had my 170 for 6 months now, and i love it! For what it is its a very fun car, sticks to the road like dog mess to a stick! If you can find one with full leather recaros, so comfy!
