Slight issue with FRS...

When the fan kicks it the revs drop and it hunts slightly until they turn off again. Any ideas....

And what temperature do these cars run when just out on a normal run. Last one, at what temp should the fans kick in..

Westy, get yourself on to the RS Owners club in the Mk1 Focus RS forum and ask the same questions on there. There'll be a few guys that will give you all the info you need.

if you have got a scan gauge you should see temps between 95 and 105 normal running and the fans should kick in at about 112 and go off again when they drop to 106

 

You are aware of the auto air con function?

 

I thought it was 118 they kicked in at, to be honest the fans will draw and it will drop the revs a bit. I've had no problem with mine. Ultimately if the fan kicks in and out you've nowt wrong.

 

Yes have a scan gauge. Fans kick in at 110 and drop temperature but just thought it seemed high.

I'm still thinking about the rs turbo cvh that didn't run that hot lol

That fine - I believe the sensor isn't actually the water but is cyclinder head temp - RSOC Fan Boys will tell you more.

 

the air con comes on if you have any of the heater controles turned on to the orange /yellow markers on the heater controls even if you dont have the aircon switched on these cars are designed to run warm you could also try getting a cpe deflector pannel to keep charge temps down what are your charge temps running at and do you have a constant stream of water in the charge cooler tank

the scn gauge does read the temp at the ack of the head so the water temps are abut 10degrees lower

It doesn't run a charge cooler, it's been removed and has an intercooler.

 

with an fmic you wont have the problem of the charge cooler pump packing in

 

Yeah I've heard the charge coolers and parts can pack up etc.

Any ideas ss to why it hunts a bit when fan kicks in please ?

 

And last question.. it has blufin, can these run on normal unleaded or is super unleaded required

 

i would only run the car on 97+ fuel as these cars dont have a knock sensor and what is the battery voltage on the scan gauge
