Default Clunk when in reverse

Hi
I have noticed a slight clunck when the car is moved in reverse, it doesn't seem to happen straight away. Maybe second or so after the car has started moving...any Idea's, nothing in any other gear.
Cheers

Is it when you apply the brakes by any chance? It could be the pads moving.

Default Clunk noise

Hi Thanks,
It Could be that, perhaps! Its just as I have got in the car, probably applied the brakes out of habit and then making it clunk. Its not always there, I will try and make it happen and nothing shows, I thought it was me on the clutch and power pedal which does make a similar noise. But nothing in forward gears. Its not a load noise, but has drawn my attention recently. The car has been in the garage for a wheel bearing noise where they have run the wheels with the engine running listening under the car and no unusual sounds. Not even the wheel bearing noise that we was looking for.
Cheers

it could be that your pistons are a bit sticky and not returning after being pressed. mine has never made any noise in the way you described and dont worry you should be able to brake and then reverse without any clunking, so nothing to do with your driving.

Rear brakes are discs!

But Im thinking now if it could be the anti roll bar links on the side it is knocking (front drivers side) I had changed the other side and front bushes for a light knocking that I had going over small bumps in the road last year. wondering now if it could be that knocking, being the weaker link now and a slight movement in reverse could be enough for the light sounded knock to be heard...and only seems to happen when wheels are straight...cheers any more thoughts!

yes the dreaded arb links, seems like they are a real inherent problem with focuses.

i replaced my front links with some of ebay(only a tenner)and it is a pleasure to drive again, its surprising how quickly you can fall out of love with a car!! now i am getting a knock in the rear, plus there is a slight creak when i get out as well(when the weights been taken off). if they are as cheap then its worth getting them changed, because they WILL go eventually, but the other bushes are a bit more expensive. if it is the bigger ones, i would avoid using poly bushes, these might give a slightly better handling, but for day to day driving they are murder. i got some for a audi 80 coupe i had and along with lower suspension and bigger wheels with lower profile tyres it rattled all my fillings loose!!!!?

any way, if the arb links need replacing dont bother trying to unbolt them, a quick blast with the grinder will have them off in seconds. just make sure you have a trolley jack under the anti roll bar in case of any load that it might be under.
