I wish I could help u, but I need similar advice myself as I may be having a similar problem.... just before xmas my mk1 ford focus, started giving me trouble. Its a 2.0 zetec (petrol) at first the speedo wasn't working and the car cut out for no apparent reason, had the speedo sensor changed and car was ok for a few months. Now the car has started cutting out on me now and again, usually when i slow down and go into 2nd gear (its happened a few times going round corners). I took it to a garage and they got it on the diagnostic computer, they told me my car has some kind of fueling fault, but couldnt pinpoint the problem and said this may not even be the reason for the car cutting out. Have you managed to find the problem with your car? or has anyone got any ideas? In desperate need of help.. thanks

I had a similar problem for a long time until I cleaned my fuel tank and replaced the fuel pump, there's a recall for the fuel pump.

Although it may seem a bit OTT, if the car has this fault all the time it would most likely be more cost effective putting it on a rolling road, emissions/fuelling can be watched as any problem develops and would likely give a much better clue for the cost of a 1 hour run.
