what calipers fit the st170 hubs?
hi guys,
as title, i have a 1.8 focus and have bought both front and rear st brake set ups, but before i go ahead and fit it all, was wondering if the st hubs will accept other calipers from other cars such as brembos etc.
this has prob been asked an answered but can't find a suitable answer.
i'm not looking to have brackets made up so a straight fitment only if its poss.
cheers.
dan

The Focus RS Brembo's fit with spacers, but I had these on my old Focus. Wilwood 6 pots with brackets made for ST170 fitment (not custom, off the shelf) on Compbrake 300mm bells and rotors...

mk3 mondeo calipers do fit but theres no advantage to them unless you dont want to pay the st170 tax but then there are fewer aftermarket pads made aswell so thats the down side.
there are companies that do big brake kits for the st170 like willwood and hi-spec so have a look at them but there prob over a grand new.
i did the st170 conversion on the front of my 2l first week after christmas and i'm very pleased.
didnt see much point in doing the rears as i already have rear disks and the calipers are the same and considering i can lock the rears on track theres no need for me.
PS. if you need to ask any q's about doing the fronts then send me a pm, i'll gladly help. oh and just so you know now the hub nuts need torquing to 316NM which is FT and you may need to buy a new torque wrench.

thanks for the replies, i'm not looking to spend that much, was looking more for a cheap alternative so doesn't matter that much.
i'm going to have to get a garage to fit the fronts as when i bought the front set up, the drive shafts and srtuts came with them.....still attached but they were a bargin so can't complain. a local garage will fit for £60 so i think thats not too bad, though i would of liked to do it myself but dont have the tools for the job.
if anybody has done the rears i may ask some questions about that but i don't expect to run into to many problems with them, i'm going from drums and have everything i need.
my car was a 1.8 and put a 2.0 engine in last summer(went bang), thought i'd add that incase anybody was wondering why i'm doing the rears.

fair enough danny boy, defo worth upgrading from the drums.
i'd like to know what your bargain price was??? as i got the hubs and callipers with used discs and pads that i replaced for a grand sum of £100...was well chuffed!!
although during fitting i discoved the cause for my suspension rattle...a knackered ball joint on drivers side wishbone and the seal on the other side is nackered so i've gotta fit 2 new wishbones in a couple of weeks

Cheap option would mean sticking with single pot ST170 calipers and upgrading the pads and discs. Otherwise you can buy Wilwood calipers very cheaply and make brackets, easy routes all round

i was prepared to go to about that as well as it would still of been worth it but nevermind. we are the lucky ones i reakon.
i've had them sat in the garage for ages and now can't wait to get them fitted....got a guy on fleabay doing me a deal for turbo groove discs and red stuff pads for £150 delivered so thats another bargin i'd say.

yep we are the bargain hunters
very nice mate. i'm on a tighter budget than that so i plumped for some grooved disks off ebay that came to £10 more than going to motor factors and got some ferrodo premier pads which are standard road compound but better than the cheap ones and the ones from ford.
