you would need the 57mm throttle body and MAF sensor from the 2 liter to run 2 litre cams, and possibly a remap

but if you putting in piper cams it would also be worth putting in the bigger throttle body and MAF sensor and would need a remap to get the most from them, even if its only a generic map

if 2 litre cams area lot cheaper id say go for them and youll be looking at 135-140bhp on those cams with the remap, but im unsure of the power pipers will give you, maybe the power increase of them out weighs the price!?

First and foremost, if we are talking Ford Focus, we are talking the blacktop series of engines which means the cams are EXACTLY the same in both the 1.8 and the 2.0 so changing them will make no difference to performance whatsoever (and for the record, so is the throttle body, inlet and 99% of the cylinder head).

Piper cams would see some difference in performance yes, depending on which cam spec you go for. What is it you want exactly out of your focus?

Mods you will definitely see make a nice improvement all round

ST170 Manifold
Full Cat Back
Decat
Enclosed induction kit e.g. BMW or Pipercross Viper
Aggressive cams (mild ones generally spoil mid range and don't add too much on the top whereas a slightly more aggressive profile means you still get some lacklustre performance low down but nice BHP gains on top!)
With cams you generally want to do vernier pulleys and under drive pulleys as well help things go a bit better!

After that you'd be looking at throttle bodies or a supercharger!

As for mapping in my opinion don't go with bluefin, see MSD for a generic chip or have one modded to match.

Sorry to jump the thread. Jus quick question bout the cams. Iv got a set of Kent sport cams and vernier pulleys. Just wanted no wud i notice any difference if i didnt fit underdrive pulleys?

Also are the spec of cams iv got worth fittin?

Iv got a 1.8 focus with st170 manifold, cat back, K&n panel filter if that helps. (lookin to get decat and enclosed filter, 65mm TB as well)

Thanks

Matt

Matt, 65mm, been there done that, got the t-shirt. Tried two different bodies, both ran like shit and doesn't give any BHP gains only VERY sharp throttle response horrible for around town driving. As for underdrives, I did them in conjunction with other mods so by themselves difficult to tell how beneficial they are however with more aggressive cams they will help in the lower gears for the engine to rev up faster as it is using less of its power to drive the ancillaries. The Kent Sport cams I have no knowledge of myself but from looking briefly at the specs they would give you an improvement.

ive got a question... will the st170 manifold fit straight onto the 1.8 zetec-e (EYDC) lump or require some modification. and will the manifold fit onto the standard downpipe?
same question as to fitting a full system (up to the flexipipe) will a bigger bore pipe just mount directly onto the standard bored pipe via the gasket or does there need to be a special connector..
sorry if this is at all confusing.. let me know cheers rob
