right i was after a mk1 face lift for ages finally bought one (get pics up soon)

just has 3 problems


the drivers door lock will not lock off the key but dose in the door????

the drivers windown dose not work (possibly the button)

the spring in the passenger door handel is broke

any one got some helpful advice, im a fitter so fixing will not be a problem just wondered is anyone else had sorted a similar problem

 

The passenger door handle can be changed easy if spring is broken.
For the drivers door lock, you'll need to take the door panel off, maybe the linkage has come off, though if it has remote central locking, I have known people to take the link between the door lock(exterior) and the lock mechanism off!!, no I can't see why either but was also done on my car when I got it, so might just be a easy fix by popping link back on.
As to the window, I would prise out switch first to see if there is power going into, and out the switch for this window, then if needed, as likely will be remove the door panel, could be anything from broken wire to knackered motor, to snapped cable, which is amazingly common.
If you need focus parts I can recommend FOCUS/MONDEOPART 01603 866999, they do mail order, I was there looking for a rear door focus lecky set up, but seems very rare even on the ghia's.

well i have a switch and 2 new motors in the car by the looks of things.

how dose the switch come out tho? looks like you gotta take the handel off the door card and it comes out from behind????(excuse the nieavity ive only rely worked on realy old or brand new cars lol this is middel of the range never worked on a focus brefore)

yer not alot of cars have full elects now have you tryed the focus saloon they maye have rear elecs

 

also my brake lights do not work only the high level 1 is working any suggestions

 

Brake lights, surely just change the bulbs? If the centre one is working then the switch etc is fine.

Window - push down on it from the outside as you keep pressing the button, it will go down. Maybe try greasing the runners, if that doesnt work then you'll need a new mechanism as it'll be the auto down spring/microswitch bit that is fucked. Happened to my old focus, new regulator fixed it!

To change the rear bulbs, open the boot lid, undo the screw that you can see holding the light unit on, then there is a big plastic wing nut inside the boot that holds the back of the light on, can be a coont to get your fingers on as you can't see it right up in there, you need to feel around for it!
