Question Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi?

I am looking in to buying a diesel ford. I want a 1.8 TDCi but not sure what the difference is between the Zetec, Edge and the Sport....
wondering if its anything to do with the engine or just the looks of the interior and exterior??
thanks

The Zetec, Edge & Sport is just the spec. The engine is the same, 1.8 TDCi, in either a 100bhp or 115bhp.

The best one is the Sport. It has the Zetec suspension, half leather (same as ST170 but black not blue), & ST170 fog lights. Also has the highly sort after 17" alloys. Imperial Blue 3dr is the only one to have. Does come in Silver, Black & Grey.

The Edge is just the same as a Zetec but with 16" alloys, ST170 / Collection spoiler.

Cambelt should be done at 100k & service interval is 12,500 miles or 1 year. If its high mileage (over 100k), check the clutch & flywheel. This is an expensive part.

I just part-ex'd my dads 2002 Focus TDCi for my ST. Was the 115bhp 5dr Ghia in black. Done 146k miles and had a recent clutch & flywheel. Got £1,100. £100 more than Ford offered me for it.

If theres anything else you want to know, please ask.

Andy

Cheers Andy, great help!
I was actually looking at the sport version more than the others as it has the half leather interior plus the ST fogs!
thanks a lot, Tom

I didn't know that the TDCi sport came in 5 door version? A silly question how the hell you operate the rear wiper? Actually the 3dr sport is my brothers but I have a 5 door Ghia and both have trouble with the rear wiper! We just bought the cars from UK and imported them to Malta. I followed the manual of course which tell you to pull the lever towards the steering to operate the rear wiper but no luck. it also tells you that if you have the front wipers working and you select the reverse gear the rear wiper will oparete automatically and i did that on both cars and luck as well. am I doing something silly? I had another few fords so I am a bit familiar!

Yep, 3 & 5dr. Think the Mk1 Focus looks better in a 3dr. Ive had both.

Regarding the rear wiper, maybe a fuse has blown? Do you hear a clicking sound when you pull the lever?

Thanks for the help, i checked for the fuse and it is together with the wipers I think and those works. I will check better of course tomorrow. Still as much a sport version is nicer a Ghia version is more comfortable to drive. But as my Ghia is the 100 ps version i would like to upgrade to 115, What is the difference in the engine between a 100 and 115 versions?
Thanks for the help.

I thought that they have a common fault as mine and my bro both didn't work but I checked fuses and relays and all was Ok, then I checked the motor it self and I found that the shaft was stuck with corrosion. I got it all apart, cleaned it till it started to move again ( good thing that the motor didn't burn) and then greased it again. Now it's all working!!! 1st I thought that you need to pull the lever in some other way!!! How silly!
