Default ford focus mk1 having a 2.5 ST engine convertion

hey. just recently bought a ford focus. and instead of doing up my 1.8 zetec engine i fancy droppin in the 2.5 litre ST lump into but not sure f it been done yet. or if the chassis and or the engine bay would handle the 5 cylinder engine wiv all the other stuff. any one done one of these yet. if not should I just do a turbo converstion on my 1.8. fancied it looking like a ST170 and haviong alot more power.

Good luck to you as with the engine conversion declared you'll be paying the same amount for insurance that you would on a Focus RS or ST

Probably more actually, extra cylinder and its classed as a major modification. When I did it, it was a shade less than a genuine Focus RS, but by god was it more fun and held a good rep

Good luck with it!

i priced up fitting one instead of the RS lump as i could get one wayyyy cheaper but people had doubts of it fitting and depth etc. glad i spent the money on the RS donkey for mine. as above youll pay more for an engine converted car 9/10 times. ive just turned 21 had my car insured at 20 mods declared etc.

There's a lad on Ford Focus Owners Club - username is Zetec Cage - he's got the engine and box in - but seems to have struggled a bit with driveshafts and bits...

Default Doing the conversion with a Volvo T5 instead of focus st engine.

Now I have the hole front of the car stripped, and engine in the final position, now to start making the Volvo engine mounts suit the ford.
This is my engine conversion.
