Default Focus ST engine into early focus

Is this possible? How different are the two body shells?

Is the basic chassis the same just the exterior has been changed heavily?

I don't think this conversion has ever been done before and if it has, I haven't seen it documented into a magazine or anything. I don't know whether it has been done or not. It may be entirely possible, but I would guess the availability and cheapness of the RS engine may be why it hasn't been done as of yet. I don't know whether you could get 5 cylinders into the focus engine bay either.

just the engine or do you have more like gearbox, loom?

i think the engine is too big to fit, but, if you clear some space, who knows..

the engine and box would fit in the bay, it is a completely different bodyshell though, so you would need a lot of custom bits like mounts, exhaust, looms to name just a few! Probably cheaper to buy a shitty base model 1.4 focus thats got a popped engine or whatever, and bang it into there!

Rolling shell would be good, suspension, brakes, bumpers, interior loom as well I'd have thought would have to be changed. Same really with any focus just the 1.4 has piss poor spec as standard.

I've got 8 in mine so anything is possible

Regarding St 5 cylinder; getting the engine and box into a Mk1 shell will be relatively easy, wiring it up and over coming the immobiliser etc will be the hard bit, unless you intend to use an aftermarket engine management ECU.
