Default focus rs steering rack

got a bit of a problem with mine at the moment. it seems to be banging when im turning the wheel to the left. im just wondering if any one has got a spare one sitting about or if u dont do u have any info on them like the fini codes etc.

Have you checked the anti roll bar drop links and all the suspension bushes, the noise could be all sorts of other things than the rack.?

Racks appear on ebay from time to time.

I think rack was made by Pro drive.

I have the same problem mate when I turn on full lock, had everything checked over and all seems OK. Just turn the radio up

Have you had yours looked over?

yeah i had mine over a pit and turned the steering lock to lock and it seemed to be at the same point every time. there was 2 mechanics under the car and they said that it looks like its the steering rack. iv had them look at every thing to get to the bottom of the problem. every thing else was spot on. fords living up to their names as usual. fix or repair daily.

Could be top bush on front susp strut.

its defo the rack. got a new one ordered. will have to stop driving the thing like i stole it. then again mabey not. wheres the fun in that

for a new rack im looking at about Ł800. with a surcharge of Ł150 when i send my one back.

does any one have one going spare? stupid question really. do u know if any one makes an after market one? need all the help i can get with this one.

forgot to say the one that was ordered was for a focus st. they sent the wrong one. thought i was soing good when i seen the price of that one. gutted now at the price of the real one. thats why im looking about for an aftermarket 1.

I had a similar problem, turned out to be a loose track rod end lock nut. mine was knocking when you first turned the wheel or changed direction of the turn. If yours only makes a knock at one specific point, and it's the same point every time, I'd have to agree with you because it sounds like you've got a damaged tooth on the rack.

800 quid

Thank fuck the knocking noise on mine was a top mount, 800 quid would have finished me off with the Focus

iv had a new 1 fitted mate. just waiting to hear back about the surcharge. managed to get it half the price i would hve been from ford so im not complaining. cheers for that any way sebspring.
